Camilla Belle 10000 bc movie review. Camilla Belle - 10,000 B.C. Premiere

Camilla being interviewed at the 10,000 B.C. premiere on March 5, 2008

I had a chance this evening to get a sneak peak at the new special edition DVD for 10,000 BC. Overall a reasonable action movie, with some interesting elements that doesnt quite live up to Roland Emmerichs earlier films but also doesnt dissapoint either. It finds its way into the middle ground of being an ok action movie to waste some time on but not a film you are likely to rave about or watch many times again.

From director Roland Emmerich comes a sweeping odyssey into a mythical age of prophesies and gods, when spirits rule the land and mighty mammoths shake the earth. In a remote mountain tribe, the young hunter, D’Leh (Steven Strait), has found his heart’s passion - the beautiful Evolet (Camilla Belle). When a band of mysterious warlords raid his village and kidnap Evolet, D’Leh is forced to lead a small group of hunters to pursue the warlords to the end of the world to save her.

Driven by destiny, the unlikely band of warriors must battle saber-tooth tigers and prehistoric predators and, at their heroic journey’s end, they uncover a Lost Civilization. Their ultimate fate lies in an empire beyond imagination, where great pyramids reach into the skies. Here they will take their stand against a powerful god who has brutally enslaved their people.

Steven Strait the star of the movie does a good job as the lone hunter / hero who goes on a quest to save his love Camilla Belle. Quite frankly if Camilla was my love I to would journey to the ends of the earth to save her, or at least to the end of the street before I got hungry and thirsty and retreated for some beer.Camilla to me was not properly used in the film. She has some great acting talents and although at the start of the film she shines she quickly diminishes into eye candy which is never a good thing in my books. A strong female character is never a bad thing.
Visually the movie is very impressive for the most part but their are some obvious flaws in the CGI. I could never put my finger on what was wrong with all the scenes that used the CGI and specifically the many prehistoric creatures but something was very much dead and fake about the creations. The CGI is by no means horrible but you may find yourself like me finding something ‘amiss’ although it is very much acceptable and not a major distraction.

The movie overall is driven by the action with just enough dialogue to explain what is going on as you move through the story. It has some very good writing and it has moments of pure drivel. But for an action movie we can forgive this. It is after all mindless entertainment. I of course will not spoil the movie for you but must say the biggest dissapointment I had was with the main nemesis who was never explained or even played out very well and I felt this was a major let down in the film. Either its being setup for a prequel or the filmmakers simply did not feel the need to expand on easily the most interesting character in the movie which you learn absolutely nothing about.

Overall 10,000 BC is a fun action film with little depth that is sure to entertain fans of Independance Day, and Live Free or Die Hard. I would say if your an action junkie who doesnt mind some questionable CGI work at times then this movie is for you.

Love Child: Graced the screen as the daughter of frequent retiree Daniel Day Lewis in last year's Ballad of Jack and Rose. To spite her hippie father, Rose lops off her silky tresses and beomes a de-flowered child thanks to her soon-to-be stepbrother, proving wonderful things can come from uniting broken families.

Belle Atlantic: When a Stranger Calls stretches an urban legend into a feature length shocker that unwinds when the adorable babysitter answers the killaphone. Taking her $7 an hour very seriously, Camilla has to save the baby from catching "dead." She probably could have saved herself the trouble if she just let the call go to voicemail.
